Apple has released the iOS 4.2 update. Along with this update Apple has included Find My iPhone service free of cost to non-mobile me users. This is a boon as non mobile me users did not have it for free before. With this option, you can track your iPhone through another iDevice anytime, anywhere!

To set up a free account, all you need to do is install iOS 4.2 on your iPhone 4 or iPad or iPod Touch 4. Then go to Settings > Mail > Add Account and create a free Apple ID. Once you are done with the above two steps, switch on the Find My iPhone. That’s it.

In order to track your iPhone, that is, find its location, you require another Apple device say, the iPad or the iPod Touch 4. By default the free service supports only the latest generation iDevices.
