Wallaby, a new technology preview from Adobe Labs proves that HTML5 is no more a Flash killer. People began using Flash from the day web animations and banner ads started emerging and it has reached millions of users around the world. The time has arrived to replace Flash animations with HTML5. Adobe has taken it into account and has released an experimental technology codenamed ‘Wallaby’ to deliver graphic and animation content across devices that do not support Flash Player.

Wallaby is a conversion tool that converts the artwork and animations done in Flash to HTML5. This helps the Flash designers to deliver their content across a host of devices including non-Flash enabled ones. The HTML5 output is currently compatible with WebKit browsers (Safari and Chrome) and iOS devices (iPad, iPhone and iPod).

As this is a new tool, it can support only limited features of Flash like converting animated and non-animated graphical content to HTML5 with CSS3 tags. It doesn’t support actionscript conversion, audio, video, etc. We look forward to see more features added in the upcoming releases of Wallaby to use Flash Professional as a perfect tool to meet the web standards.
