Google and Samsung to launch Nexus S

Finally Nexus S, smartphones designed by Google and manufactured by Samsung have been unveiled. After the disappointment of Nexus One, Google hopes for success with Nexus S. The company assures for “pure Google experience” with this smartphone.

It has Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” OS which is considered to be speedier than all other versions of Android. It has 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1 gigahertz Hummingbird processor, VOIP/SIP internet calling capabilities and 16 Gigabytes of internal memory.  One glaring point is, the phone has  no expansion slot. Nexus S comes with a 5 megapixel camera with flash and a VGA front facing camera.

Nexus S also includes Near Field Communication technology, which makes it to act almost like a credit card. People can use it to make mobile payments. Google sold Nexus One directly to consumers, which is why it suffered weak sales and was baffled by a lot of customers complaints. This time Nexus S can be bought only from Best Buy in the U.S. and Carphone warehouse in the U.K.

Nexus S will be available to customers from December 16th. It will cost US $529 as an unlocked phone. With Nexus S, Google hopes to grab a more dominant place in the smartphone market  , sporting a tough competition against rivals Apple and Microsoft.
