Samsung Announces Armor-Plated Android Smartphone
Samsung has recently announced a new Android-based armor-plated smartphone, the Rugby Smart, that is designed to withstand rough and extreme conditions.
This smartphone meets the US military Mil-spec 810f and the IP67 international standards for ruggedness. It can withstand submersion in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes and damage in extreme temperatures and shock. It can even withstand exposure to sand, dirt and rain. In short, the smartphone is designed to be a water resistant and dust-proof device.
The device runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It is 4.8 inches tall,2.5 inches wide and half an inch thick. It is packed with a 3.7 Super AMOLED screen, 4 GB internal memory, a 5 megapixel main camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. It also has a 1650 mAH LiIon Poly battery that can power the phone for up to 8 hours of talktime and 16 days of standby time. The smartphone provides support for AT&T’s HSPA “4G” data network.
The Samsung Rugby Smart will be offered by AT&T officially from March 4 onwards for $99.99.
