Samsung to Challenge iPod Touch with Galaxy Player

Samsung plans to unveil its new media player at the CES, next year. It has already released a video of Galaxy Player 50, which belongs to the family of Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab.

Samsung is getting ready to compete with iPod Touch, with Galaxy Player, which will run  Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. According to Samsung Hub it will come in 8, 16 and 32 GB models. Features like SoundAlive audio enhancement technology, HD video playback, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 are included in this media player.

Galaxy Player has a 4-inch Super Clear LCD touchscreen with WVGA resolution and it is 9.9 mm thick. For video chatting, it has a dual facing camera with 3.2 megapixel camera on the back and 1.3 megapixel camera on the front. It also has a microSD card slot and the users can access Android Market.

When compared to iPod Touch’s 960 x 640-pixel “retina display”, Galaxy Player falls short with 800 x 480-pixel display. But it supports all Google apps like Gmail, Google Maps, You Tube etc., At present there are no media players running Android.
