Chennai, India Dot Com Infoway has been recently appraised at Level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI V 1.2 DEV) for software engineering and organizational management from the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (CMSEI), U.S.A.
Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a process improvement approach that can guide in improving organizational functions, setting improvement goals and in the standardization of quality processes. CMMI is a prestigious and internationally accredited model for best practices in software and organizational development. The comparison of a company’s model with that of CMMI standards is called an “appraisal” and this accreditation is awarded by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute in U.S.A.
Dot Com Infoway’s CMMI process began about year and a half ago. The Management of the company formed the SEPG (Software Engineering Process Group) team under the leadership of Ms. Kalai Selvi Vijayakumar, the Senior Technical Manager of DCI. The SEPG team prepared the “MyQMS” for the company in accordance with CMMI standards. Then, the team educated the entire organization and trained them on how to implement and improve quality in client projects. The final appraisal by KPMG happened in January 2011, and the results were announced after SEI completed the audit formalities. Projects in Software Development, Web Application Development and Enterprise Application Development from Chennai and Madurai developmental centers were appraised. Most of the projects were from publishing domain, e-service, legal domain, ERP, e-commerce and CRM. After the final audit, the company has been appraised with Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level (ML) 3 (version 1.2 Dev).
Being appraised at Level 3 of CMMI is a milestone in Dot Com Infoway’s corporate graph as it is a testament to the company’s commitment to product quality and efficiency. Commenting on this, Mr. C. R. Venkatesh, CEO of the company said, “This is a crowning achievement in the company’s growth chart. We’re proud and happy to become part of the niche group of CMMI companies. I thank the CTO, the SEPG Team Lead and all those involved for their efforts in making this possible.”
Mr. Vijayakumar Radhakrishnan, CTO of the company opined: “We always believe in delivering quality products to our customers and ML 3 reflects our determination to provide world class software development services.” Commenting on this, Mr. Girish Ramdas, the President of the company said, “This is a remarkable feat for a company that is just a decade old. This goes to show that we’re going strong and have it in us to make it big on a global level. We are working hard to further improve our quality system and go in for a CMMI Level 5 process soon.”
CMMI Level 3 has arrived at an important juncture as DCI has only recently expanded into a multinational company with marketing offices in the U.S.A. and Netherlands. The company is also planning for branch offices in Australia and Singapore in the near future.
