Apple’s App Store downloads have hit 40 billion. The company took pride in sharing the news in a press release, mentioning that 40 billion unique downloads were made excluding the re-downloads and updates.
The App Store has got more than 500 million active accounts and had a record-breaking December with over two billion downloads. Apple made a note that the developers were paid over seven billion dollars. The press release also mentioned that Apple provides its developers great means to monetize apps. They include in-app purchases, subscriptions, advertising etc. The company also offers vast resources and tools to help developers in making great apps, and provides a robust ecosystem and marketplace that helps customers discover apps.
“It has been an incredible year for the iOS developer community,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services. “Developers have made over seven billion dollars on the App Store, and we continue to invest in providing them with the best ecosystem so they can create the most innovative apps in the world,” he added.
