Notifications similar to those found on Google Now were spotted in Chromium and are soon expected to be added to Chrome as well.

Google Now-Like Notifications Could Be Added to Chrome

Chromium, is an open source Web browser from Google which was recently updated for Windows. These updates were spotted with a new notification center that looked similar to the cards in Google Now that appear on users’ desktop. The release was spotted by a French developer, François Beaufort on Google+. He also snapped up a screen shot of the new notification center in action, giving people an idea of what it might look like, says The Next Web.

After downloading the latest build, users can simply toggle the “Enable Rich Notifications” flag through chrome://flags. As this new feature is still under development, there are chances of Google changing its appearance before the final release.

Users who have signed into any of the Google services like Gmail, Google+ or YouTube would have already spotted a number in the top right-hand corner whenever they receive a new comment, message or email.

Features added to Chromium are usually tested for some time and gradually moved to Chrome. It is speculated that this new feature could mark the beginning of Google trying to tie up both Android and Chrome platforms.
