Rumors regarding the launch of iPad Mini are flying. Various reports claim that Apple is ready to release its iPad Mini tablets in the second half of this year.
According to a report from a Taiwan based news organization, The Liberty Times, Apple has an eye toward launching the tablet at the end of the third quarter of 2012 with a target sale of 6 million units. It seems LG and AU Optronics have been selected by Apple to supply LCD panels for the iPad Mini. The report also says that both the companies are ready to start the screen production which will be supplied to Foxconn factories.
A Japanese blog site Macotakara reported that TPK Holding and Chimei Innolux will produce the backlight modules and Nissha Printing will make the iPad Mini tablets’ touch film sensor.
iPad Mini is also rumored to be a 7.85 inch tablet with a Retina display. Other sources claim that the tablet will come with an 8 GB storage and is expected to be priced in the range of $249 – $299.
iPad Mini, once launched, will definitely pose stiff competition to the low cost Kindle Fire and Barnes and Noble’s Nook tablets in the market.
