Qitup

Qitup is a niche social community platform created for BBQ lovers by Dennis and John. What started as casual group chats sharing rib pics and grill techniques transformed into a vibrant online hub where pitmasters, backyard grillers, and foodies can showcase their creations, post recipes, ask questions, and learn from one another.

Challenges

Building Qitup came with several challenges. Technically, we had to create real-time features like live feeds, comments, and notifications while handling large amounts of photos and videos shared by users. We also needed to build a strong backend system that was secure, easy to manage, and could grow with more users. On the user side, it was important to design a simple, engaging experience with features like likes, bookmarks, and replies while still keeping the authentic feel of BBQ culture.

From a project and scaling point of view, it was a challenge to keep all teams design, development, infrastructure, and moderation working smoothly together. We had to focus on building the core features first, while also planning for future improvements. At the same time, we needed to make sure the platform could handle high traffic during events, store media efficiently, and keep user data safe from spam or abuse.

Our Solution

To build Qitup, Dot Com Infoway (DCI) developed a modern and scalable web platform designed for BBQ lovers. We used ReactJS, Node.js, and MongoDB, along with Socket.IO for real-time updates, to ensure smooth and fast user interactions. The platform is hosted on AWS, which makes it flexible, secure, and ready to grow. We also created a custom admin panel so moderators can easily manage users and content. The user interface was designed with a mobile-first approach, combining simple navigation with the warm, friendly feel of BBQ culture. Every part of the platform was built to make posting, interacting, and moderating easy and efficient.
