Facebook has revamped its user profile page, giving more emphasis on photos and personal info. The new-look profile page was unveiled this Sunday. The key changes are listed below
– At the top of the page there is a summary of personal information – right below the user’s name. This gives a glimpse of details about the user’s employment, city, college, relationship status, language(s) known, birth date etc.
– Under this, there is a series of recently tagged photos. Looks like the new design gives greater importance to images.
– With the new profile page, the user can highlight his/her important friends. They will appear on the left hand side of the page.
– The tab ‘Info’ has undergone a huge change. The text links are converted to images wherever possible. This, in fact, provides a visual overview of the person.
– The ‘Info’ tab also includes two new categories – Philosophy and Sports.
– The Friends tab has also been modified. Once the user clicks the tab, he can find a list of interesting friends.
According to Zuckerberg, this new design will make it “easier to tell your story and learn about your friends”. But users won’t be forced to use this new version. Facebook will be asking users if they would like to upgrade to the new profile page. They won’t have to do it now, if they don’t want to.
