Google Launches 'Gmail Meter' to Track Email StatisticsDCI
The search engine giant Google has launched a new service called ‘Gmail Meter’ that analyzes various patterns of emails and provides users with detailed statistics about the account activities. Gmail Meter was developed by a Google Apps Script Top Contributor named Romain Vialard.
Gmail Meter is an Apps Script that sends an email to users about their Gmail usage, at the beginning of every month. The tool measures and displays the volume statistics, that show the number of important messages and the number of people who sent emails to that user and so on. It also displays daily traffic estimates and traffic pattern.
Apart from this, the tool tells the user how he is managing his inbox. It also provides a notification on how long it takes for the user to reply to mails and for others to reply to that user. Moreover, it provides statistics of the word count of the emails. Other stats include thread lengths, top senders and top recipients.
To set up Gmail Meter, go to Google Docs and open a spreadsheet. Click on Tools–>Script Gallery. Search for “Gmail Meter” and click Install. A new menu item named “Gmail Meter” will appear on the spreadsheet. Click on Gmail Meter–>Get a Report. At last, choose the type of report.
Google Developer Programs Engineer, Saurabh Gupta said in a blog post, “In a similar way to how recently introduced Google Account Activity gives key stats about how you’ve used your Google Account, Gmail Meter gives you different types of statistics that will help you analyze your Gmail habits.”
