Google to Encrypt Search Queries

Google has announced that it is going to roll out default encryption for signed-in users.

“As search becomes an increasingly customized experience, we recognize the growing importance of protecting the personalized search results we deliver,” Google product manager Evelyn Kao wrote in an official blog post. “Websites you visit from our organic search listings will still know that you came from Google, but won’t receive information about each individual query”.

Google believes that this step would enhance the privacy of its services, especially for the people using an unsecured Internet connection, such as a Wi-Fi hotspot in an Internet cafe.

The encrypted service might be a bit slower than usual, as the computer needs to first establish a secure connection with Google.
